Formed in 1969, UFO became a transitional group between early hard rock and heavy metal and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. After all, these English hard rockers - much like Kiss , Cheap Trick and Thin Lizzy , among others - are one of those bands whose generally acknowledged magnum opus 1979s seminal Strangers in the Night , in this case is, in fact, a live album. It doesn't put a dent into the considerable hard rock canon represented by UFOs 21 studio albums over that span, either, as they quickly ditched their space-rock beginnings to help define British hard rock for much of the '70s, parts of the 80s and then carry on the flame into the 90s, 00s and 10s. UFO Artist Format: Audio CD. Beginnings is a two CD set that encompasses the band's first three albums circa 1970-1972, the time prior to Michael Schenker entering the band. UFO's early sound is simply incredible Pete Way leads in with some thundering bass riffs on nearly every track and is supported by Andy Parker's lightning-like percussion work. Live is a live album by the band UFO. It was the group's first live recording and was initially released exclusively in Japan in December 1971 entitled Landed Japan. The album was later released abroad in 1972 onward with different titles, such as UFO Live in Japan and UFO Lands in Tokyo. It features the original lineup of the band with Mick Bolton on guitar, and consists of blues covers and songs from their first two space-rock albums.
