Album
Soil Festivities is a studio album by the Greek electronic composer Vangelis, released in 1984. This 1984 release was the first in what could be very loosely said to belong to a trilogy of his 1980s albums, the other two being Invisible Connections and Mask, both from the following year 1985. It is a concept album which derived inspiration from the natural elements, life processes taking place on the Earth's surface and beneath our feet. Full Album Stereo Remastered 1. Movement 1 - 0: 2. Soil Festivities by Vangelis made the UK charts on 13 October 1984. One of his less well-known albums, it's nevertheless hugely popular with many devotees. Vangelis went right back to the soil for the album with which he entered the UK chart on 13 October 1984. Published on. October 13, 2014. Paul Sexton. Soil Festivities. To favorites 3 Download album. Soil Festivities dates from 1984, before Vangelis was working with orchestras. Some would say that it was before he sold out or when he was a real musician, but those opinions are totally subjective. It is certain that this is a different kind of work. The album features five movements, each a self-contained soundscape. Vangelis surrounds a subtle drone with heavy sequences and dense atmospheres. He uses a symphonic synth to create pastoral textures. This is a very accessible album. It will appeal to fans of Constance Demby, Wendy Carlos, Victor Cerullo, and Yanni.
