It was written by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. It is the first song on Aerosmith's pinnacle hard rock album Rocks released in 1976. The song was released as the third single from the album in 1977. It peaked at 38 on the Billboard Hot 100. Although the lyrics, by Steven Tyler, were written with the simple idea of cowboys and sex, this song took on new meaning after Aerosmith reunited in 1984 and embarked on their Back in the Saddle tour. The only really bad thing about 'Back in the Saddle' is that it's been four long years since it's ground breaking older brother, 'Sucking the 70s' came out. Hell, I could easily see one of these volumes coming out every year, never mind the work than that, it's all a matter of taste, and as long as you're in the groove, you'll find something to love on this new one. There's tons of variety. Granted, this is not the ground breaker that the first one was, back in '02. How could it be But as a document in a continuing series showcasing superior musician's re-working and re-interpretation of classic heavy 70s grooves, it makes perfect sense. The album features a great majority of the legendary western songs and cowboy performers, including Gene Autry, Sons of the Pioneers, Rex Allen, Harry Jackson, Patsy Montana, and Riders in the Sky. As far as introductions to Western music go, there are few albums better than American Cowboy Songs. Track Listing - Disc 1. To favorites 0 Download album. Listen album. Back in the Saddle is from Aerosmiths 1976 album Rocks The follow up to Toys in the Attic was not quite the huge hit they were hoping for and Saddle is one of the better tunes off the album. I like its grungy sound and of course the rockin bass line. Any song featuring a horse whiney and cracking whips is cool with me
