It was released on February 18, 2003 through Bloodline Records and Def Jam Recordings. Recording sessions took place at Quad Recording Studios, at Teamwork Music Studios, at Chung King Studios, at Right Track Recording, at Sony Music Studios, at Sound On Sound, at The Hit Factory, at Soul Clap Studios, and at Gold Mine Studios in New York, at the Room Lab in Hackensack, at the Studio in Philadelphia, at Soundcastle in California, at Enterprise Studios in. Grave Upheaval emerges from the shadows, albeit only slightly, with clearer production than previous efforts but with a sound that remains draped in malevolent ambience. The same hazy, hallucinatory effect that characterizes all of the bands previous work remains intact, but the tonality of the riffs and structural elements of the songs are more vividly apparent. zirtonic I imagine this is what cave diving would be in audial form. Ominous guitars, marching drums, and eerie vocal incantations keep you constantly checking over your shoulder. Alluring, frightening, and hostile, you can only hope that you find your way out.
