Mirisch, one of Hollywood's top moneymaking producers, was honored as Pioneer of the Year at an elaborate dinner of the Motion Picture Pioneers, given last nights at the Americana Hotel. Edmund G. Brown of California addressed the semiformal gathering, extolling the talents of the independent producer and fonner theater owner. Among the other speakers were Samuel Goldwyn Billy Wilder, director of many of Mr. Mirisch's successes, and William J. Heineman, president of the honorary assembly. A number of Hollywood personalities attended to hear. Mirisch Films was a British motion picture and television production company subsidiary of the Mirisch Company. It was founded in 1962, and produced The Pink Panther series of films which feature Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau, and various DePatieFreleng animated cartoons, before shutting down in 1982.
