Notes
Break dancing, rapping and scratching are now international crazes. But they all started on the streets of New York City.
The electro-shock sound of Arika Bambaataa: the scratching and rapping dj's: The graffitti artists: The kids on the street corners - they all came together in a cultural explosion that rocked the world.
This is the story of hip hop, see and hear Malcolm Mclaren, Mel Brooks and Gary Byrd, and get some street level culture.
The above notes are from the back of video sleeve.

The History of Hip-Hop dances encompasses the people and events since the late 1960s that have contributed to the development of early hip-hop dance styles, such as uprock, breaking, locking, roboting, boogaloo, and popping. African Americans and Latino Americans created uprock and breaking in New York City. African Americans in California created locking, roboting, boogaloo, and popping-collectively referred to as the funk styles. All of these dance styles are different stylistically. Underground Hip Hop at its finest. A hate-or-love-it kind of album for many due to its innovative and experimental nature, but a doubtless a classic. Company Flow, consisting of El-P beats & rhymes, Big Juss rhymes & DJ Mr. Len beats & scratches, dropped this gem to bless Hip Hop in a time period where shiny suit rappers and gangsta posers were already getting most of the spotlight, proving real Hip Hop would always survive if necessary underground. It was also the year that hip-hop in various forms became ubiquitous on radio, so it was the first time that sounds like G-Funk and hardcore hip-hop were played alongside more commercial acts like Arrested Development and Kris Kross. For Jay, it was a friend and business partner who leaked his album to the street vendors and was stabbed as a result Jay pleaded guilty and received three years probation. Hip-Hop may have matured in 87, but it exploded in the 1990s and 1995 was not only the midpoint of the decade, it was also the year in which the culture started down a path that would end in violence and confusion
