Becoming more than just a blues trio over the years, GBB is now an energetic musical revue, which plays a mixture of original songs and blues standards. One of the greatest bands ever, off the back of a UK No 1 Mr Tambourine Man and a No 4 All I Really Want to Do could only sell 250 tickets. Criminal, really. Though not as cringe-inducing as Sky Saxon, of 60s garage legends the Seeds, booking a show at the Town and Country Club now the Forum in London in the late 80s in his guise as Sky Sunlight Saxon Dragonslayers and having it cancelled when the punters failed to snap up all the available tickets. The House of Love pitched up at the Irish Centre, touring their debut album, to find maybe 50 people there. In a room that holds 800. Nirvana is better, more creative, and more emotional than bands like Foo Fighters whom I also love, Chili Peppers, Guns n' Roses and many others. Kick-started the 90's alternative scene, and everything they did was all top notch. Bleach, Nevermind and In Utero are all fantastic albums with In Utero in particular for me. Just one album of Hendrix Are You Experienced is by far more important for rock music than the whole discography of Aerosmith. At least Pearl Jam isn't ranked lower than numerous terrible bands like Nickelback and Linkin Park like on the Best Rock Band List. A band's most disappointing album, as this list shows, isn't always a band's worst record. More often, they arrive at the end of a period of creative momentum or rebirth. They're also found at those times when rock's biggest bands took the first stumble toward a period of prolonged struggle or even into irrelevancy. Sometimes a key group member or producer leaves other times, the reasons for these disappointments are harder to pin down. Personal issues might come into play, or maybe an act begins to drift apart.
