Album

The Songs Lennon and McCartney Gave Away was a conceptual compilation album containing the original artist recordings of songs composed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney in the 1960s that they had elected not to release as Beatles songs. The album was released in the UK in 1979. With the exception of I'm the Greatest, a Ringo Starr album track written for him by John Lennon in 1973, all songs were recorded and released as singles during the active Beatles years in the 1960s. A Faithful Tribute To The Beatles: Year After Year 1967, 19 Lennon-McCartney Songs - The Fools on the Hill Cover Band. With a Little Help from My Friends is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and sung by drummer Ringo Starr, his lead vocal for the album. As the second track on the album, it segues from the applause of the title track. THIS IS AMAZING - John Lennon with a little help from his friends George Harrison and Ringo Starr Sings Paul McCartney songs - In Sept 1971 John and traveled out to Kenwood, Lennons estate in the London suburb of Weybridge, on March 28th, 1967, to sketch out a melody. It was provisionally known as Bad Finger Boogie, apparently because Lennon had injured one of his digits. Facing a deadline from EMI to finish the album now in its unprecedented fourth month of production, the group trucked into Studio Two that night, March 29th, to begin work on what would become With a Little Help from My Friends. Lennon and McCartney hastily filled the gaps in the lyrics and presented Starr with a complete version. Lennon & Mccartney Performer Format: Audio CD. It's a more consistent album because it's a real tight band performing the songs. It's K-tel Heaven. Some may be apprehensive, but I loved it. It is a really pleasant romp through some of the lost songs in the Lennon and McCartney catalog. Kate Pierson singing I'm In Love sounds is very B-52ish. Bill Janovitz's take on I'll Keep You Satisfiedlacks the pop sweetness of the Billy J. Kramer version which is the essence of this song's charm. From A Window by Graham Parker has an instrumental backing that sounds like the Hollie. This is one of the really great lost Lennon and McCartney songs. In the band's early days, the songwriting team of LennonMcCartney was actually that: The duo assembled songs together, trading lines and creating in partnership. By 1967, however, that was rarely the case. With a Little Help became one of the albums most famous tracks, for a number of reasons. One of them was that radio DJs who wanted to play the title track often included With a Little Help From My Friends because of how the tunes were seamlessly linked on the recording
