Collection of rustic folk music, ranging from dance tunes to ballads to religious hymns - some vocal, some instrumental, and while there is a track called "Fado Velho" (Old Fado) this is not what most people think of as Fado. Unfortunately the CD insert lists only the song titles - no names of performers, or where or when this was recorded. (The Request LP does include performer names and titles.) Some of these same recordings are definitely material from São Miguel island collected by composer and ethnomusicologist Artur Santos in the late 1950s and early 60s, originally released on a series of 10" records in 1965 and reissued as an amazing 4-CD set on Açor/Emiliano Toste.
