King is badly represented digitally, and this straight reissue of Decca's 1965 two-disc BEST OF anthology is very good value. All tracks were rerecorded for stereo, and the lesser ones are the King signature hits Melody of love, Waltz you saved for me, Josephine and Goofus. The keepers, evidently intended by Decca as mere album filler, are lower in saccharine content: Whispering in a fresh and funny chart with acoustic guitar, Harbor lights baritone piano with Hawaiian steel guitar and three really sumptuous waltzes. Performer: Wayne King and his Orchestra Writer: Murphy Simon Gensler. Digitized at 78 revolutions per minute. Four stylii were used to transfer this record. They are truncated eliptical, truncated conical, truncated conical, truncated conical. These were recorded flat and then also equalized with Turnover: 400. 0, Rolloff: -12. The preferred versions suggested by an audio engineer at George Blood, L. have been copied to have the more friendly filenames. Matrix number: 24509B Catalog number: 24509-B
