Wild Life is the debut studio album by the BritishAmerican rock band Wings and the third studio album by Paul McCartney following the breakup of the Beatles. The album was recorded over the course of eight days from 25 July to 2 August 1971 at Abbey Road Studios by McCartney and his wife Linda along with session drummer Denny Seiwell, whom they had worked with on the McCartneys' previous album Ram, and guitarist Denny Laine, formerly of the English rock band the Moody Blues. The irony of the first Wings album is that it seems more domesticated than Ram, feeling more like a Paul 'n' Linda effort than that record. Perhaps it's because this album is filled with music that's defiantly lightweight - not just the cloying cover of Love Is Strange but two versions apiece of songs called Mumbo and Bip Bop. Expectation had something to do with it, as McCartney assembled his first post- Beatles band. His approach, rather than to live up to those lofty standards, was to drill down deeper into the comfy domesticity that had surrounded Ram from earlier the same year. The quartet recorded the LP, with its notably live and stripped-down feel, in the summer, in Pauls old stamping ground of Abbey Road Studios, with engineering by Tony Clark and Alan Parsons. This was a new type of album for the former Beatle, with no UK single releases nor any particular attempt to write for the charts.
