Myrmidon is the seventh album from Virginian black metal auteur Wrnlrd, who continues to make some of the most dazzling and experimental material the genre could permit. The regulation fizz is present, but there's a genuine creepiness at work here too - going far beyond the often slightly silly schtick that tends to come with the territory. Moaner-Revelator' too is a thing of great menace and vision, laying down biting guitar riffs and pitched down vocals whilst putting the mix through the mangle a little with almost psychedelic tape loop-style modulations and jazzy rhythmic complexities.
