Desertshore
The Desertshore project is a 're-imagined' cover version of Nico’s seminal 1970 album first conceived by the late Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson in Berlin 2006. In 2010 at his home in Bangkok, he refocussed his approach readying to record guest vocalists while Chris and Cosey prepared material in their UK studio for his return there in December. Sadly, Sleazy unexpectedly died in his sleep on the 25th November in Bangkok.
Chris and Cosey made a commitment to Sleazy to complete the ‘Desertshore’ project picking up from where they left off just prior to his untimely passing. With enthusiastic support and contributions from so many who were close to Sleazy, especially the guest artistes whose work he admired; Antony, Marc Almond, Blixa Bargeld, Sasha Grey and Gaspar Noé, the project is now complete.

Album
There's little in Desertshore that sounds like TG or Sleazy's work in Coil. Instead this is a one-off strain of inspiration, similar to the excellent Carter Tutti Void project. Sometimes it dips into torch song territory, such as on Almond's stirring take on The Falconer. Where Desertshore and The Final Report connect is through a fascination with reaching the point where beauty gets tangled up with ugliness. It's something that ran through Nico's career from start to finish, where fashion model looks slowly sagged into heroin addiction, where a rare kind of musical talent faded pitifully into the shadows. Desertshore is the third solo album and fourth studio album by German musician Nico. It was released in December 1970 on the Reprise label. Desertshore was co-produced by John Cale and Joe Boyd. Like its predecessor The Marble Index, it is an avant-garde album with neoclassical elements. Janitor of Lunacy was composed as a tribute to her friend Brian Jones. Recordings from the initial TG Desertshore sessions were released on the tour-only album The Third Mind Movements in 2009. Desertshore was later completely re-recorded featuring a number of guest vocalists in place of Genesis P-Orridge and released in 2012 as Desertshore similar to Desertshore, The Final Report by X-TG.
