The Yes Album is the third studio album by English progressive rock band Yes, released on 19 February 1971 by Atlantic Records. It was the band's first album to feature guitarist Steve Howe, who replaced Peter Banks in 1970, as well as their last to feature keyboardist Tony Kaye until 1983's 90125. The album was the first by the band not to feature any cover versions of songs. The band spent mid-1970 writing and rehearsing new material at a farmhouse at Romansleigh, Devon, and the new songs were. The best 'mix' of the different line-ups the tour was amamzing: 2 guitars, 2 keyboard players, 2 14 Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe. This one is easily one of their most underrated as well. People ignore this one because it is one of Yes's newer albums that doesn't feature Anderson on vocals. But this and the great comeback album Magnification have both a great sound, and amazing songs. Not only does this feel like classic 70s yes, but it's structured like the classic Rush album 2112. The title track is a 20 minute epic suite that is truly one of their best songs. This is the outfit that really put prog on the map, especially in the U. via Fragile and Close to the Edge. But a lot went on before and after those twin peaks, both good and bad. There are unsung gems in the Yes catalog that are kn. The Yes Album is when the band definitively found the distinct sound that they built upon with later albums Fragile and Close to the Edge. It was also the first album with guitarist Steve Howe, who was an integral part of their success. The Yes Album received recognition in the US as well as UK, and outsold their previous albums. The Yes Album Q&A. That is a question that can only be answered subjectively. There is no objective best in music. What is Yes best album That is a question that can only be answered subjectively. There is little doubt that it is a masterpiece of progressive rock. There is not a bad track on it and only The Clap is less than exceptional. Yet all of that presentation icing on the cake is not what fans are really after - it's the audio. And having listening to The Yes Album for 40 years of my life - I'm amazed at the clarity on offer here compared to previous Rhino versions. Some of the tracks are so clean it's almost disconcerting - they're not supressed nor trebled for effect - just treated with care and attention to transfer detail. As the opener Yours Is No Disgrace goes into that Chris Squire Bass break - it's so good - and that Howe solo still amazes
