The disc closes with the Trio in One Movement for Piano, Violin and Clarinet from 1906. This is a lively, sprightly work which shows the composer's skill early in his career. This makes an ideal companion disc to the previous Naxos disc of Bax chamber works played by Mobius issued in 2000. I was intrigued about hearing this disc after listening to the Stanford album by Plane and the Gould Piano Trio. Both were supported by grants from the Royal Welsh Academy of Music and Drama, where Plane teaches. The Bax album is as good as the Stanford.
