Album
The Complete Piano Trios, Clarinet Trio, Horn Trio. 2 CD. The Horn Trio in E major, Op. 40, by Johannes Brahms is a chamber piece in four movements written for natural horn, violin, and piano. Composed in 1865, the work commemorates the death of Brahms's mother, Christiane, earlier that year. However, it draws on a theme which Brahms had composed twelve years previously but did not publish at the time. The work was first performed in Zurich on November 28, 1865, and was published a year later in November 1866. The Horn Trio was the last chamber piece Brahms. Brahms, Johannes : Trio for Piano and Strings no 1 in B major, Op. The Horn Trio is a middle-period work, composed when the composer was in his early thirties, while the Clarinet Trio was one of his very last works. Fanfare A clear first recommendation for any of the five works. I find these fully the equal of any other versions of any of the trios in the catalogs, whether by present-day or 'golden age' performers. Wonderful music-making. The Brahms trios are great music, and I've enjoyed the Beaux Arts Trio's earlier set the one that omits the repeat in the first movement of the Op. 8 as well as the Stern-Rose-Istomin set, in which the piano part is somewhat disadvantaged by both the recording and Istomin's pianism, which is less attractively assertive than Pressler's with the Beaux Arts. This set, from 1998, by the Florestan Trio gets everything right - the digital sound is clear and natural, the balance is splendid, and the playing is marvelous. Stephen Stirling is the hornist in the Op. 40, and Richard Hosford is fine in the late Clarinet Trio. Play album. Do you have any photos of this artist.
