From opening cut The Great Pan Is Dead, Cherish feels like a John Hughes film projected in an IMAX theater- guitars wail, synths scream, and the whole thing is loud, loud, loud. It manages to unite Power, Corruption and Lies-era New Order, late '70s Scott Walker, and the dark stadium pop of mid-period Depeche Mode, with the sensibilities of artists like LCD Soundsystem and The National. Drawing from all these influences, bandleader Wesley Eisold crafted a tightly wrought, ambitious love letter to New York City. If you want to listen to good, well made, well produced new wave electro music, I sincerely recommend this. A trip to cold and cool unknown feelings that had been inside you all of this time
