Dre Presents. the Aftermath is a compilation album by American and West Coast rapper Dr. It was released on November 26, 1996, as the first album on Aftermath Entertainment. Dre's scarce vocals, newly critiquing gangsta rap, marked Dre's reemergence after his March 1996 departure from Death Row Records, where Dre himself had propelled gangsta rap into the mainstream. Dre had cofounded Death Row in 1991 amid his embattled split from Ruthless Records and its pioneering, gangsta rap group . The Aftermath. The Aftermath is a compilation album from 1996 featuring various rap and R&B artists. This is Dre's first release after leaving Death Row Records and . Dre shifted directions drastically halfway through 1996, leaving Death Row Records and abandoning gangsta rap, claiming that he had Been There, Done That. So, Dre founded a new record label, Aftermath, and built an artist roster consisting entirely of new, unproven talent. He also decided not to concentrate on rap, signing urban R&B acts as well as hip-hop. Aftermath's initial release was the various-artists compilation Dr. Dre Aftermath and one listen proves that Dre wasn't kidding when he said he wasn't interested in gangsta anymore. After his escape from Death Row, Dr. Dre PresentsThe Aftermath. Will Hip-Hop's MeToo Moment Ever Come How 50 Cents Get Rich Or Die Tryin Changed Hip-Hop. Dre Presents The Aftermath was the first project released from Dres newly formed label, Aftermath Entertainment. Two singles were released from the project: Dres solo track Been There, Done That and East CoastWest Coast Killas, a coastal unity track featuring Nas, Scarface, KRS-One, B-Real, and RBX as a crew labeled Group Therapy. The reception of the album was lukewarm, and Dr. Dre said the following about this time period of his life . Detoxification' is Dre's third album since NWA split, and it's also, he assures us, the final one. Never the greatest rapper himself, he's pulled in favours from several of the stars whose careers he kickstarted. They invariably sound as though they're doing it out of obligation. A dash of Snoop normally spells instant charisma, but on The Office and Do You Know, he's relatively anonymous, as is Eminem on The Take Over. Even 50 Cent sounds more alive. Their lethargy is understandable, because Dre's driving over very o. Lucky for Hittman, he signed to Aftermath when Dr. Dre was in album mode, and consequently appeared on nine tracks off of the 1999 mega album, 2001. However, like many Dre protégés, he never managed to squeeze more than his single Last Dayz out of the label. He left in 2000 and finally dropped a solo effort in 2005, though to a flatlined buzz. Bishop Lamonts The Reformation. Seemingly poised for greatness, Bishop Lamont released a lot of material, and should have allegedly been to the mythical Detox album was Hittman was to 2001. The seller did a great job nothing bad to say about that. I was looking for the new Aftermath CD that was supposed to be released on 420 but couldnt find it in stores so I ordered what I thought was it on here. This CD sucks. Dre doesnt even do much vocals and the beats and sound in general doesnt sound like what I expected from such a great artist. Read more
