Dre Presents. the Aftermath is a compilation album by American and West Coast rapper Dr. It was released on November 26, 1996, as the first album on Aftermath Entertainment. Dre's scarce vocals, newly critiquing gangsta rap, marked Dre's reemergence after his March 1996 departure from Death Row Records, where Dre himself had propelled gangsta rap into the mainstream. Dre had cofounded Death Row in 1991 amid his embattled split from Ruthless Records and its pioneering, gangsta rap group . The Aftermath. So, Dre founded a new record label, Aftermath, and built an artist roster consisting entirely of new, unproven talent. He also decided not to concentrate on rap, signing urban R&B acts as well as hip-hop. I was looking for the new Aftermath CD that was supposed to be released on 420 but couldnt find it in stores so I ordered what I thought was it on here. This CD sucks. Dre doesnt even do much vocals and the beats and sound in general doesnt sound like what I expected from such a great artist. Read more
