Jon Hopkins - Singularity from the album of the same name, out now on Domino Record Co. Singularity is the fifth studio album by English electronic musician and producer Jon Hopkins, released on 4 May 2018 through Domino Records. It was announced on 6 March 2018, with the release of the first single, Emerald Rush. The second single, Everything Connected, was released on 25 April, while the third, Singularity, was released on 4 May, along with the album. The album follows Hopkins's companion previous album, Immunity. Album 2018 9 Songs. Building on his background as a classical pianist and composer, British producer Jon Hopkins uses vast electronic soundscapes to explore other worlds. Here, on his fifth album, he contemplates our own. Its a theme that could easily feel affected or clichéd, but Hopkins does it phenomenal justice with imaginative, mind-bending songs that feel both spontaneous and rigorously structured. Singularity marks the fifth album from the UK electronic producer and composer and the follow up to 2013s Mercury Prize nominated Immunity. Where Immunity charted the dark alternative reality of an epic night out, Singularity explores the dissonance between dystopian urbanity and the green forest. It is a journey that returns to where it began from the o. Songs in album Jon Hopkins - Singularity 2018. Jon Hopkins - Singularity. Jon Hopkins - Emerald Rush. Jon Hopkins - Neon Pattern Drum. Jon Hopkins is playing God. That much is clear as soon as Singularity, the lead and title song on his first album since 2013s Mercury Prize-nominated Immunity, shivers into being. A ferrous wasteland of synthesizer overhung by evaporated strings and guitar merge into a remarkably complete sonic landscape - the land and sky of a new world, with its own alien physics, its own genesis and apocalypse. Hopkins keeps hanging these strange planets in wobbly orbits throughout Singularity, forming a universe that pulses with deep consciousness and a sense of endless discovery. Singularity is the proper follow-up to Jon Hopkins' 2013 breakthrough Immunity, a spellbinding album of highly intricate, glitchy techno which nevertheless felt organic, and even classical at times. Like that album, Singularity is filled with frayed feedback, skillfully crafted beats, and gentle piano melodies, as well as the occasional breathy vocals. This time out, there seems to be an extra shot of adrenaline added, and the album seems to reflect a deeper spiritual quest, both inwards and outwards
