Before recording the album, the band was approached by ImmortalEpic Records after a performance at Huntington Beach, California. The band signed to their label because they didn't want to sign away all of their creative freedom. The band would record at Indigo Ranch Studios in Malibu, California with producer Ross Robinson, who. Hold On is a song written and recorded by American nu metal band Korn, The Matrix, and Atticus Ross for Korn's untitled eighth studio album. It was released as the album's second single in October 2007. Munky describes the song as the closest thing to an original Korn song on the untitled album.
