Initially, it seems to be a bit more experimantal and less accessible than the Betchadupa recordings, but with a few listens, familiar melodies emerge. This one relies more on the vocal production than the previous efforts, and less on driving guitar lines. It becomes more clear on this CD what influence he was on the previous band. Had he, this might have contained phrases such as a sumptuous ear for a bittersweet melody or Beatles-esque pop given a 21st-century twist. And I'd have to agree with him.
