Notes
Titles given in German, French and English on sleeve - the Engish titles are used here, because, after all, it is an Australian release...
Australian WRC 1st pressing, sourced from original stampers. Deutsche Grammophon insisted on WRC using the original DG artwork. Released towards the end of the transition from the "S/" numbering to the "R-", it has both numbers on the back of the sleeve, as "R 01908 ", with the DG-style labels using the new system, viz. "R-01908". Not issued on cassette. Laminate strip present down the right side of the rear of the sleeve.

Divertimento For Violin, Viola And Violoncello In E Flat Major, . Composed By Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The Divertimento in E major, K. 563, is a string trio, written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1788, the year in which he completed his last three symphonies and his Coronation Piano Concerto. It is widely regarded as separate from his other divertimenti. The work was completed in Vienna on September 27, 1788, and is dedicated to Michael Puchberg, a fellow Freemason, who lent money to Mozart. The premiere was in Dresden on April 13, 1789, with Anton Teyber taking the violin part, Mozart playing viola. There must be poor performances of Mozart's Divertimento for string trio in E flat major, K. 563, and Schubert's String Trio in B flat major, D. 581, on record, but they are hard to come by given that the works themselves are so lovely that they seem to attract only first-rate music-making. Unsurprisingly, then, this 1998 recording released in 2007 by the Dresdner Streichtrio is incandescently lovely. Divertimento for fiolin, bratsj & cello i Ess-dur Trío para violín, viola y violonchelo KV 563 Divertimento para trio de cuerda Trio for Violin, Viola and Cello Divertimento in E flat, K. Divertimento in this case was indeed Mozart's own title, entered into his workbook in 27 September 1788. This was not always the case with works of his now called Divertimenti, the title sometimes being later added by others. divertimento mozart classicaviva kv563 concertodomenica. Yet recordings of it seem to come along infrequently, and truly outstanding versions are even rarer, with the generally recommended version, by the Grumiaux Trio on Philips, now over 40 years old. Even if it doesn't quite oust that classic performance, this latest one, with violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann, viola player Antoine Tamestit and cellist Christian Poltera, is a considerable achievement, warmly recorded, scrupulously stylish and wonderfully generous in spirit
