Album

Emeritus is the tenth studio album by American rapper Scarface. The album was released December 2, 2008 on Rap-A-Lot Records, Asylum Records, and Warner Bros. Records in the United States. At the time of its release, he had stated that it would be his final studio album. The album debuted at number 24 on the U. Billboard 200 chart, selling 42,000 copies in its first week. It has sold 167,000 copies in the United States as of August 2015. Upon its release, Emeritus received praise from music critics. Like 2007s Made, Emeritus is an almost unremittingly bleak album, one that displays Scarfaces usual penchant for intensely critical personal analyses as well as his dissatisfaction with the world at large. Though Made found Scarface in top form as an MC it was occasionally weighed down by leaden production. This problem has been for the most part remedied on Emeritus, particularly on the pummeling title track, which sees Scarface boasting of his professional prowess over a thrillingly pugnacious funk loop. Emeritus Scarface. With Emeritus, the legendary Scarface brings his solo career to close, a declaration he made six yeas earlier, although this time it seems more realistic. The former Geto Boy's stipulation that collaborations are still possible is right in line with his recent projects like his three-man crew the Product but more than anything, there's a bitterness throughout Emeritus that feels like pulling up stakes and cutting your losses. Emeritus is not the usual, very serious good-bye record, but in so many ways, it's a typical Scarface record. It's just better than usual with the rapper sounding liberated by his decision to move on. Genre: Hip Hop. Or consider a donation 207. Year of the Gentleman. Jeremy Warmsley. Emeritus, 2008.
