Album

East-West is the second album by The Butterfield Blues Band led by Paul Butterfield, released in 1966 on Elektra Records, EKS 7315 in stereo, EKL 315 in mono. It was recorded at the famed Chess Studios on 2120 South Michigan Avenue in Chicago. It peaked at 65 on the Billboard pop albums chart, but is regarded as highly influential by rock and blues music historians. Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей The Butterfield Blues Band. A close friend introduced me to the Paul Butterfield Blues Band East-West album shortly after its 1966 release and let me borrow it for a while. I was about 14 or 15 years young then. It was very progressive not just for blues, but generally and incorporated so many styles and genres e. blues, rock, jazz, eastern music, etc. and such a wonderful presentation, virtuosity and group dynamic from these fine musicians. East-West would prove to be a pivotal album in the new blues-rock movement, and it was the Paul Butterfield Blues Band's greatest achievement Bloomfield would be gone by the time they cut their next LP to form the Electric Flag, and as good as Bishop was, losing the thrust and parry between the two guitarists was a major blow. But East-West captures a great group in high flight as the bandmembers join together in something even more remarkable than their estimable skills as individuals would suggest, and its importance as a nexus point between rock, blues, jazz, and world music cannot be. If the Butterfield Blues Band's groundbreaking debut earned the respect of the group's elder influences, this one won over and guided the blues boys' psychedelic peers. Highlighted by the 13-minute-plus title track an Eastern-influenced jam cowritten by guitarist Mike Bloomfield, East-West stretches the boundaries of the blues. It would prod many lesser groups to explore, with generally dreary results, interminable free-flight explorations. Everything came together on this album. East-West tics all the right boxes a 60s blues rock album should. Loaded with talent, this band just sounds great. Good album from start to finish.
