Piano Bass Drums Piano Bass Drums was the first live release from the band a set recorded at the legendary Sydney club, The Basement, on their September tour of Australia in 1996. Like many of their releases, Piano Bass Drums consists of only the one track, Unheard. The album was nominated for Jazz Recording Of The Year, ABC Classic FM Awards, and has been out-of-print in CD form for some years. The album features a single track titled Unheard, performed by Chris Abrahams, Lloyd Swanton and Tony Buck recorded in concert at The Basement in Sydney, Australia. The album was nominated for Jazz album of the Year in the 1998 ABC Classic FM awards. At the APRA Music Awards of 1999 Unheard won Most Performed Jazz Work. All compositions by The Necks. If the Necks settled on their music recipe in Silent Night, they got the sauce right in Piano Bass Drums. One of the reasons to explain it, apart from the fact that the group keeps on growing in terms of synergy, is the fact that this album was recorded live and each member focused on their primary instrument instead of adding organ, samples, and effects.
