You remember Us3 - they had a huge club hit in 1994 with their acid jazz appropriation of Herbie Hancock's Cantaloupe Island, which they muscled up with modern beats and samples and titled Cantaloop Flip Fantasia. That single gave the venerable Blue Note label its first-ever platinum album. Subsequent releases made less of a commercial impact, and the original Us3 duo of Geoff Wilkinson and Mel Simpson eventually fell apart. Questions - Us3. So imagine my excitement when I heard that Us3 was resurfacing, retooled with a new lineup behind mastermind Geoff Wilkinson, with their first stateside release since 1997's Broadway and 52nd an underappreciated gem if ever there was one. Questions was the first Us3 album to be released independently outside Japan on the label. Two tours of Europe in 2005 resulted in 50 performances in 14 countries.
