Conductor: Herbert von Karajan. Die Walküre is the second of the four operas that constitute Der Ring des Nibelungen The Ring of the Nibelung, composed by Richard Wagner. Niberlung is a companion or follower of Siegfried - a German mythology speaking of the race of dwarfs who possessed a treasure hoard that was stolen by Siegfried. Björling a la voix qui convient, il est peut-être davantage die et moins père que ne le sera Hotter, mais on est à un très bon niveau. Pas de livret. The Bayreuth Festival German: Bayreuther Festspiele is a music festival held annually in Bayreuth, Germany, at which performances of operas by the 19th-century German composer Richard Wagner are presented. Wagner himself conceived and promoted the idea of a special festival to showcase his own works, in particular his monumental cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen and Parsifal. Wagner: Die Walküre Act 3. Through the fiery playing of the Festival Orchestra, Karajan creates a supple line that cuts sonorities, bends bar lines, and expresses every nuance of aesthetic meaning in the score. Although anyone looking for a first recording of Act III of Die Walküre might wish to try a later recording of the complete opera, anyone deeply dedicated to Wagner who hasn't already heard this recording will surely want to check it out. Track Listing. When Richard Wagner opened the Bayreuth Festival in 1876 with the first full performance of The Ring of the Nibelung, such a chorus did not yet exist. Members of Bayreuth choral societies were called upon to make up the male chorus of the Götterdämmerung. The chorus today consists of 151 members, who meet solely for the weeks of rehearsals and performances in Bayreuth. They have to shine not only in those choral parts which nowadays adorn every best-of operatic choral recording. Wagners crowd scenes involve getting into character, and also demand intensive rehearsal from a scenic aspect.
