Fly from Here is the twentieth studio album by the English rock band Yes, released on 22 June 2011 by Frontiers Records. After a four-year hiatus, Yes resumed touring in 2009 with a line-up of bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White, and newcomers singer Benoît David and keyboardist Oliver Wakeman. During breaks in touring between late 2010 and early 2011, the group began to prepare material for Fly from Here, their first studio album in ten years. The album marked the return of. Fly from Here is YES twentieth studio album. It is their first studio album since Magnification 2001, it is also the only one to feature Canadian singer Benoît David, and only the second album after 1980s Drama without former singer Jon Anderson and with keyboardist Geoff Downes. The album originated from a conversation between producer Trevor Horn and YES bassist Chris Squire, who re-discovered the song Fly From Here from the Drama sessions and realized that it had never been recorded in a studio. Chris and I were talking one evening about the song Fly From Here that we never recorded, explained Horn. Yes - Fly From Here 2011. To favorites 7 Download album. Listen album. Progressive Rock. Fly From Here, Yes have successfully completed one of the most risky vocalist transitions in the progressive rock genre since Genesis unsuccessfully tried to replace Phil Collins with newcomer Ray Wilson. While Wilsons vocals might have been a little bit too far removed from his predecessor, Benoit David possesses just enough of that Anderson-esque cherub-like vocal quality to sound comfortably familiar, but also brings enough of his own earnest youthful honesty to the vocals to make the songs on Fly From Here distinctly his own. For more info: album kicks off with the longest track in the Yes catalogue, albeit modern influence means it is split into 6 parts The Fly From Here Suite. The seeds of this song were what got Horn and Downes into the band, when Brian Lane, their mutual manager, introduced them. That song didnt make the Drama album, but was played live by the band on the subsequent tour. After giving Anderson the long-distance runaround, the prog vets have a new frontman: Benoit David, recruited from the Yes tribute band Close to the Edge. Their first album in 10 years aims high with a 24-minute, six-part title suite. Unfortunately, the band gets drowned out by weak vocals and synth goop Steve Howe takes only a few disappointingly brief guitar solos, beyond his acoustic Solitaire. And when the new guy starts singing, tempus can't fugit fast enough. Listen to Solitaire: Related ,Ex-Yes Frontman Jon Anderson Opens Up About Getting Fired , Random No. Album 2018 12 Songs.
