Whatever the real reasons may have been, the Beatles' June 30, 1966 show at Tokyo's Budokan Hall was lackluster and lethargic. The odd recording mix adds yet another negative dimension. That Rock 'N' Roll Music was chosen for Anthology 2 is curious indeed, for it's surely one of the least distinguished efforts here. Day Tripper, She's a Woman, Yesterday, If I Needed Someone and I Feel Fine in that order are more convincing - though all lack that vital Beatles' spark.
