Not all British pop is Britpop, nor is all U. indie necessarily pop music - nor does British indie of the '80s sound like British indie of the '90s, for that matter. Посмотреть сведения об участниках альбома, рецензии, композиции и приобрести альбом 2007 Box Set от The Brit Box UK Indie, Shoegaze, And Brit-Pop Gems Of The Last Millennium на attempts to map almost a quarter-century of UK indie music, focusing on shoegaze, Britpop, and 1980s 120 Minutes staples. By 1986, a few years of run-of-the-mill guitar rock had left the UK music press scrambling for new ideas. As a result, writers at publications such as Melody Maker fought a brief war over where to plant their flags, with camps divided between the ascendant hip-hop and the regressive, relatively handmade sounds of C-86. Before long, acid house would briefly leave each in the dust, shifting the UK pop landscape in ways not seen since punk. The Brit Box features all of the styles that wormed their way into the hearts of the music lovers during the late '80s, all through the '90s and beyond including Indie, Shoegaze, Baggy and Brit-Pop. While many artists featured here enjoyed superstar status in Mother England, their impact on U. charts was more peripheral but their stylistic imprint and collective uber-hip peer-pressure on late 20th century popular music overall is undeniable. With the respect given the '60s-era British Invasion in countless other compilations, Rhino's new trans-Atlantic ocean liner-sized b. For instance they chose to start off the box set with How Soon is Now by the Smiths, which isn't one of their strongest songs. I always thought that Britpop per se started in the late 80'searly 90's with the Stone Roses and Charlatans UK. I didn't think it would start way back with the Smiths. The result is the post-punk Brit Box, a 4-CD, 78-track Way Back Machine that seems intended as a trans-Atlantic equalizer for the lost souls who mistakenly believe that the pop music legacy of the last millennium remains some strange amalgam of grunge and hip-hop. In turn, the best evidence for the importance of UK guitar bands from the last century is disc one: the Smiths, the Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, the Stone Roses, and Happy Mondays remain unmatched. As the remaining CDs make explicit, however, the mastermind behind this set wasn't interested in simply revisiting the baggy-pants. The Brit Box collects 78 songs of UK alt-pop from 1985 to 1999. Rhino's four-disc set traces the evolution of this music, from just after the neon lights of new wave died, through the Britpop explosion, and ending right before Coldplay emerged to rule supreme. This box is both an excellent survey and a very well sequenced 312-minute mix. Because Rhino didn't stick to one genre, you won't get fatigued by hearing the same style over and over. For Anglophiles and pop lovers alike, the Brit Box is quite a treat. Oasis - Live Forever
